What is a performance film?

A performance film is a short, directed film of an artist performing their own song — usually one take, one location, and one clear mood. It's built around the delivery of the performance rather than around a story or a cast.

The point is intimacy. Lighting, framing, and movement all exist to make you feel like you're in the room while the song is being performed, which is why performance films often connect faster than a scripted concept.

They're also practical. A performance film can be shot in thirty minutes to two hours, cut for both vertical and widescreen, and released as a standalone piece, a teaser, or ongoing content between releases.

At ZJ Productions this is one of the most requested formats from Tampa Bay artists, largely because it's the fastest way to turn a song people can only hear into something they can watch and share.
